Types of Work Permit
Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) Visa (Subclass 482):
Allows employers to address labor shortages by bringing in skilled workers from overseas. Includes short-term, medium-term, and labor agreement streams.
Skilled Independent Visa (Subclass 189):
A points-tested visa for skilled workers not sponsored by an employer, state, or family member. Allows permanent residency and the ability to live and work anywhere in Australia.
Skilled Regional (Provisional) Visa (Subclass 491):
For skilled workers nominated by a state or territory or sponsored by an eligible family member residing in a designated regional area. Provides a pathway to permanent residency (Subclass 191) after meeting specific requirements.
Working Holiday Visa (Subclass 417) and Work and Holiday Visa (Subclass 462):
For young people (aged 18-30 or 18-35 in some cases) from eligible countries who want to holiday and work in Australia. Allows work for up to 12 months with restrictions on employment duration with a single employer.
Business Innovation and Investment Visa (Subclass 188):
For business owners, investors, and entrepreneurs looking to establish business operations in Australia. Provides a pathway to permanent residency (Subclass 888) after meeting business and investment requirements.
Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) Visa (Subclass 186):
A permanent residency visa for skilled workers nominated by an Australian employer. Requires meeting skill and English language criteria and having a job offer in a relevant occupation.
Skilled Nominated Visa (Subclass 190):
A points-tested visa for skilled workers nominated by an Australian state or territory. Grants permanent residency with the requirement to live and work in the nominating state for a specified period.
